This year, Ed and I spent Christmas in Texas. We had a great time visiting and hanging out with lots of family and friends. Here are a few pictures of our fun time. Hope your Christmas was as fun as ours!

Merry Christmas from The Wilbur’s

We are proud to present our first attempt at The Wilbur Family Christmas Newsletter. We’ve wanted to do a newsletter to all of our friends and family for Christmas in years past but felt we really had nothing to tell. This year however, has been very eventful, so we thought we’d give this “newsletter thing” a try.

This year, Edwin accepted a position in Oklahoma as a Concrete Mixer Driver. Accepting this new position presented us with the major goal of moving from Texas and finding a home in Oklahoma. Near the end of March 2008, we had all paperwork completed for our new home. April 2008 I (Tiffani), said goodbye to Texas as our home, and joined my husband in our new home in Oklahoma. We have enjoyed this inspired change in our lives. Ed has thrived in his position. He has been trained as the Relief Batchman, received several performance raises and promoted to a larger concrete mixer truck. I returned to work in June after a two month break. I accepted a position at a Waste company as the Scale Operator. I haven’t been there very long, but I’ve learned many, many things I didn’t know about this industry and look forward to learning lots more.

As the months have gone by, we have enjoyed all the projects of making our home ours with our own personal touches. Unpacking and decorating inside, putting in flowers, putting in a driveway, adding a patio, and building a storage building in the backyard, just to name a few. In an effort to add even further to our home, we are planning to adopt a child to into our family. Hopefully for the New Year 2009, we will look forward to being parents. Luckily, we’ll have grandparents, uncles & aunts, and nieces & nephews close for advice, assistance and play dates. With a child being added to our family, we’re hoping our Christmas Newsletters in years to come will be much more exciting.

Throughout the year, there are many changes and busy times in all of our lives, but we wanted to take a brief moment to say we are delighted that we have you as friends and family. Thank you all for your friendship and love.

We put up Christmas lights on our house Friday and they look pretty cool. Ed thinks it looks like Halloween because they are all orange. Well,..I guess we have the "Nightmare Before Christmas" house. (I think it looks cool!)

No deer this year...

Sorry to report that today was the last day of deer season and we have no deer in our freezer.(sad face) Ed saw at least 4 deer and shot at 2, but no deer was brought home. That's ok though, better luck next year. Ed has plans to go wild hog hunting on a friends land, so hopefully we'll have tons of bacon and pork chops here soon!-lol

This Wednesday is Ed's birthday. I'm still getting some minor plans together for it, but I plan to have a small get together with friends & family for cake and ice cream. I don't know of too many places around here to go do things like I do in Dallas, so I couldn't keep any birthday plans secret from him. He had to pretty much plan it with me. Maybe next year when I know what's around, I can do better secret planning. He doesn't know what his presents are, so that's at least one surprise I'm able to have. Anyway...Happy Birthday baby, I love you!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Happy Turkey Day

As I sit here to type, I smell our Thankgiving hen cooking in the oven. My mom (Tiffani's mom) is here with Ed & I to celebrate our first Thanksgiving in Oklahoma. She helped cut up veggies and prepare to stuff the hen with carrots, celery and a small apple. I got a tip from a co-worker that stuffing an apple inside the chicken/turkey will help it to stay moist and add a little sweetness to the meat. I'm excited to see if it works! The weather is great 60 degrees here. After we are all done stuffing our faces this afternoon, we plan on going to Robbers Cave, a beautiful state park, to walk around and check out the natural scenery. Mom has never been there, but I think she'll love it, because she loves the outside. As I have my family here for this holiday, I really am thankful for so much. To name just a few things, a supportive husband, a loving family, a wonderful home, a great job, and great friends. I hope all of you enjoy your Thanksgiving, too!

Opening weekend last year in Texas.

It’s “Opening Weekend” for deer season here in Oklahoma and guess where my cute hubbie will be this weekend? Can anyone guess?!? If you know Ed, you know he’ll be up before sunrise, dressed from head to toe in camo, hiding out in the woods with riffle in hand, waiting for the slightest sign of a deer. He has deer fever and can’t wait!! Last year, we both went opening weekend in Texas. We both had never gone before and it was fun. I’m excited for him to get a deer this year. I’ve never had deer meat, so it would be sort of neat. The temperature is quite a bit cooler here than in Texas at night and there is an official “burn ban” due to high winds, so he won’t be braving the cold in a tent this year. The warmth of our home has convinced him to stay home and head out reeeeeeaallllyyy early. Wish him luck!! I’ll let you know if we’re having deer for Thanksgiving. -lol

Tahitian Noni International-Dallas, Texas

I don’t know how many of you know that I(Tiffani) use to work for Tahitian Noni International. I really liked it a lot. The interactions there with distributors and customers were so fun and it paid very well. Near the end of last year , I saw that business had taken a nose dive. We weren’t suppose to say anything of course, but I think it was evident to everyone. I knew, as an employee, my time in the Texas office was short lived. Thankfully Ed found a job here in Oklahoma and we moved, so I didn‘t have to worry about it anymore. But sadly, I found out about 2 months ago that Tahitian Noni International was closing basically all of their Lifestyle Centers, which are their retail stores. The Texas office officially closed November 1, 2008. Luckily, my brother who worked for the same company in Georgia, was offered a position in the Utah office and has relocated there. I tell ya, our Heavenly Father knows the plan for us. I didn’t know that moving would be this much of a blessing. In these tough times, my husband and I are both employed and able to pay our bills. Not everyone can say that. My advice… listen to what He’s saying.

This Halloween was very fun here in OK. We attended the wards Trunk or Treat were the kids came to get loads of candy. We had plenty for them!! I invited a co-workers grandson to it and he came as Sponge Bob. My niece who also came was Tinker Bell and my nephew was a monkey. They were too adorable. Ed &I had costumes as well, we went as Capoeria students. We thought it would be fun, since we are officially green cords in Capoeria and could “bust a move” if someone asked. We also decorated our car and were proud to showcase our carved pumpkins. Ed & I did great I following the patterns I think. (Silly, I know…) We put them on our porch to add to the other Halloween décor.

When we moved into our home in April of this year, everything was still dead and our house looked so plain. We’ve been project crazy since we have been here and have done a ton of things. Our home finally has some life. Now the fun part is, it’s winter time now and everything is dieing, but I thought I would share what our house did look like this summer. Here’s just few pictures of what we’ve done.

Yes, we are alive...

I know, I know...it's been FOREVER since I've blogged and told everyone what's going on with the Oklahoma Wilbur's. Thanks to a recent purchase of a HP Pavillion Laptop (thank you Ed) and WiFi at our home, I will be able to update the family blog... everyday if I wanted! There are so many things that I need to blog about but I don't have the time right now to do it. Watch out though, I'll be posting like crazy here soon to update everyone with pictures and other miscellaneous I can think of. We're back...look out!!

Weekend Update

This weekend we decided to take a trip up to Tulsa, OK. It’s the next big city here. We went to Garden Ridge and Harbor Freight to do a bit of shopping. We picked up a few things for our home that we aren’t able to get here in this samll town. Sometimes you need a big city to get things done. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this or not, but my sister –n- law here in McAlester have been walking for the past month. She’s even joined Weight Watchers in an effort to get us fit. Now we have all the secrets to success. I’ll keep you posted on all of the results. I’ll post pictures soon hopefully of a smaller me.-lol (So far, I’ve lost 8 pounds!! YES!!)

OSP Rodeo (Oklahoma Prison Rodeo)

Last weekend Ed & I attended the OSP Rodeo. It’s an annual event held here in McAlester were everyone outside of the local prison comes in to see the inmates perform all the horse roppin’ and calf tying tricks they’ve learned. Also other state inmates come to compete against them which makes it pretty fun as well. It was really cool actually. I thought I would be soooo scared with inmates and bulls, but it was WELL guarded to say the least.{smile} One of the highlights of the whole evening was the HUMONGUS funnel cakes. I thought Texas had "Texas Size" Funnel Cakes...yeah no.
